I was so excited to see Der Kanadier web page that I had to personally
thank you for all of the memories that it brought me and maybe
share a few with you. I
lived in the middle building of area one (if you come out what
was Der Kanadier front doors, it would be the second building
on the left on the main road). Der Kanadier's parking lot was
where I played road hockey every single day for 6 years (the
CSIS guys were never very happy about that), when we would lose
tennis balls on the roof the tree in the back corner of the lot
would provide access to the roof. We used to walk on the metal
fence like a tight rope walker and have competitions to see how
many times you could walk the entire length without falling off.
Der Kanadier's front steps are where we waited for the summer
school bus to take us to the Kaserne for a summer of hanging
out with our
friends. There also used to be a bar near the back steps where
we used to
do chin-ups and impress the girls. The plum trees on the opposite
side of
Dreispringstrasse were also a source of much entertainment. Thank
You
again and keep up the good work!! I'll definitely have to come
and visit now.
