The original "Der Kanadier " was the weekly newspaper for
the Canadian Forces stationed in Europe. It was published in Lahr

i.e. until just before Canadian Forces Base Lahr closed down
in mid-August 1994.

New CFE Canadian memorials to be dedicated

The setting up of new Canadian sections in local cemeteries of the communities where members of Canadian Forces Europe and their dependants lived and died
are now nearing completion - for further background details, click below on our Editorial
Editorpage 3/2002).

Many of the families involved will, of course, participate in the official dedication ceremonies but the local communities as well as the Department of National Defence Canada have also cordially invited all other interested persons to attend.

Der Kanadier Internet Shop is open for business

Our webmaster Klaus has now set up a small Internet shop, selling a few things like Lahr books and videos, Black Forest calendars and other items that will remind people of their stay in this area. We will try to add more articles to our range in the near future and you can make suitable suggestions if you wish. German air-mail parcel costs are quite high - please order in plenty of time so we can send your packet by sea!

With kind regards, also on behalf of our other volunteers
Gabrielle, Marie-Hélène, Ivan and Klaus (see Contacts),

Trisha Cornforth
