Register soon for our Lahr Reunion! Arrangements are going well for the program of events at our Lahr Reunion to be held 25 June to 4 July 2004, to mark the 10th anniversary of Lahr's "Cana-da Haus" and therefore 10 years since the withdrawal of the Canadian For-ces. See proposed program to download schedule updates. Take advantage of the opportunity to return to your old haunts in Germany! Of course it will never be the same as when you were stationed here because things have changed so much … Remember we're all getting older, so who knows whether we'll ever be able to hold another such get-together! Registration procedure For further planning purposes we need to have an idea of how many people will be attending, so please sign up on this website as soon as you have deci-ded to join us. Registration is free but there'll be a small fee for a participant's badge when you arrive here. Maryse Forget, a member of our Canada-Haus Association, has kindly produ-ced a special reunion logo for the occasion. She is a French-Canadian artist and graphic designer from Quebec who has been living and working in Lahr for the past few years, so she herself never actually experienced the "Canadian Era" in Lahr. See her homepage among our links and under Der Kanadier Shop. Apparently some people have had problems with our two-way registration form. Of course we are dependent on a local System here, so you get a whole load of German text in reply if you don't press exactly the right key! Please try again if that happens. If all else fails, send me of Klaus a personal message! Also contact me if you are looking for billeting with a German family. The e-mail address: info@kanadahaus.org Transatlantic travel If you are intending to come to Germany this summer, you'll need to reserve your plane ticket soon! Unfortunately for Canadians hoping to visit Europe this summer, the Euro keeps rising in value against the dollar. This also makes it less expensive for Europeans to visit North America, so many of the cheaper flights may well be already fully booked. If you can't get a seat on a charter or airline direct to Frankfurt or Zürich, flying via London could be an alternative. Ryanair now has a daily Iow-cost connection from London/Stanstead direct to Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden i.e. landing at former CFB Baden-Soellingen! You can only purchase the tickets via Internet: www.ryanair.com Richard Buck, a Lahr Brat 1969-72, now runs a travel agency in Guelph, Ont. He has put together a whole package tour for the occasion, including the option of an extra week's bus trip afterwards to Bavaria and Austria or to former East Germany. For further information, see www.canameratours.com or contact him at lahr-reunion@canameratours.com If anyone else out there is organizing a group too, please let us know too! We look forward to hearing from you! Trisha Cornforth
